Principal Students
From the Principal Students Student Council

Dear Students,

Thank you for considering us for your further education option.

We try to make the Sixth Form better by organising activities that students participate in and enjoy. We run Student Council to which all students are welcome. We work together to decide how to improve the Sixth Form.

There are a variety of opportunities provided in the Sixth Form to help you grow as a person. For example, we have several sports’ teams, lots of enrichment options and service in the community. Teachers treat us with more respect and talk to us like adults.

We look forward to welcoming you to our Sixth Form.

Yours sincerely

Adam, Rosie,
Bex and Lauren

Bex
Head of the Socials Committee

I am Deputy Principal Student and in charge of the Social Committee. I've lots of ideas for social events this the year to help raise money for charities and the Year 13 prom and also, to unite the two year groups. I want to encourage everyone to help out and share ideas so they can be involved in the planning of events; such as whether to theme the socials or to have live music. There’s a lot to look forward to this year and we’re going to have a great time!

Lauren
Head of the Charities Committee

I focus on the charities side of student council, and work to organise events to raise money for various charities of the students’ choice! Fundraisers this year will include anything from a Battle of the Bands to fancy dress days, as well as parties. Our Charities Committee will play an active part in Student Council creating a fun atmosphere in the Sixth Form, and all for a good cause!

Our Sixth Form Council is made up of at least two representatives from each tutor group, as well as anyone else who is interested. We are involved in issues that affect the whole Sixth Form such as keeping the common room tidy and getting new furniture for the common room. Meetings are usually held every two-three weeks and everyone’s point of view is listened to and valued. There are also separate committees for our parties, charity events, and the Year 13 prom.

It seems like no sooner you get here you have to start thinking about what happens next. There’s lots of help with applying to universities and planning your future career. Here’s some of us on a Sixth Form trip to Reading University’s open day last July.
